LET'S DIG A LITTLE DEEPER...
- History: Samael was born the son of Emperor Nergal Draconlurotos, in the Dragonic Dark Ages, over 20,000 years ago. It was in this time, that Samael's father ruthlessly ruled over the Fire Dragons with an iron fist, and punishing any under his rule for the smallest slight against him. His council consisted of corrupted ambassadors from the other three dragon tribes, with whom he conspired with to keep the inhabitants under his control. Any who stood against him were never seen again. Upon being born, Nergal saw potential within the infant child, and while every fiber of his body told him that this child was a danger to his rule, he vowed nonetheless to make the child into the greatest warrior that the Draconlur Empire had ever seen.
From the moment the child stood for the first time, he was plunged into a world of violence and combat. The Draconlur Clan called this the Draconalage, an ancient rite of passage amongst the first Fire Dragons, which determined whether they had the privilege to be considered a member of the Draconlur Clan. While the initiation began at around seven years of age, Samael began his own Draconalage at the age of two. His trials were far more brutal and aggressive than any other under the trials of the Draconalage, with the instructors, known as the Melder's, keeping an ever-watchful eye upon the young prince. For twenty years, the young Dragon was molded by his the cruelty of his Melders. Constantly fighting for his life, and having to kill if and when necessary, and without mercy. By the end of it, what innocence Samael had before he began was now gone, and what was left was a ruthless and terrifying warrior, who was made General of all of Nergal's armies.
But that was not enough for the Dragon. While he was trained by his ruthless Melders, they were none the less wise individuals, who taught him the significance of honor, and duty to his people. That while Death was the ultimate glory of any Fire Dragon, in life, the greatest glory that he could give his people was honor. So, Samael sought to take control of his father's Empire by challenging him in combat. Samael's fight against his father was far more fierce and terrifying than any trial of his twenty year Draconalage. His father, empowered by the blood of the three other tribes, took control of the fight immediately, showing no quarters for his rebellious son, until in the end, Samael's dormant rage began to boil deep within, and was unleashed at the last given moment. Twenty years of hidden anger, and hatred for his father erupted from within, making Samael too much of a force to be reckoned with. Samael struck the killing blow, when he plunged his taloned hand into his father's chest, ripping out Nergal's heart and devouring it before his father's horrified eyes, as Samael gained his father's power, making him even stronger by it.
Upon his father's defeat, Samael was instantly crowned Emperor of the Draconlur Clan, and his first order of business was to remove the corrupt council that was put in motion by his father. In the end, Samael killed all three of his father's council members, and which set in motion a war that would spread throughout the world of Dragons. While Samael's rule was indeed lessened, it was still based upon militaristic tradition, with the children being raised within the Draconalage at the age of four. In the end, many Draconlur Dragons were forged into a fierce fighting force, which scoured the lands, and conquered nearly all clans of dragons, a campaign that lasted for nearly ten thousand years. Near the end of Samael's campaign, those few remaining Nergal loyalists challenged Samael to combat, and many were killed by Samael's raw power, but not before they finally outnumbered the ruthless Emperor and imprisoned him in crystallized Ice, in the furthest regions of the Antarctic.
For ten thousand years, Samael slumbered, until a curious, young Shang Dragon named Mari, found the book used to contain Samael, and by touching it, activated her power of knowledge absorption, and unknowingly recited the chant to free Samael in a trance brought on by her power, awakening the Emperor once again.- Strengths:
- Cunning
- Tactical
- Persuasive
- Unyielding
- Influential
- Weaknesses:
- Violent
- Temperamental
- Irascible
- Sadistic
- Deleterious
- Personality: Charming, sophisticated, and compassionate. These are traits that show in Samael’s personality. Things that he uses to his advantage to get what he wants. Underneath these traits, is Samael’s cunning intellect that can also be shrouded by his casual attitude towards other people. When a person becomes of interest to him, he makes it his mission to find out what he can about the individual, traits that he could use to possibly persuade someone into helping him reach a goal. He normally offers whatever the person desires, whatever that will strike their interest, and make him want to join him. When he gets a positive feedback from his offer, he is normally perceived as a helpful person, to say the least, despite his apparent dark nature. On the other hand, when somebody does not take his offer, he shows his violent and evil side, in which he promises to make life a hell for anyone that does not help him. Normally though, a lot of people are ready to help this charming individual with whatever he may need, as one thing about Samael, is he will honor his deals due to a code he lives by and in which he does business, even when it is with the must unsavory of beings.
One aspect about Samael is that he is more honest than most of his kind about his personality and his nature. Often explaining that some of the lines he uses on people are lines that he has used before. Even more so, if his offers are thrown back at him, he is not against using force on someone to make them see things his way. Regardless, he is none the less honorable, especially in combat, as he was raised to fight fairly against an opponent, often giving himself the same handicaps that his opponents have, but is just as brutal in fighting as he is honorable, making sure that his opponent’s die painfully, even if he does offer them a quick death.
Samael is also an equal opportunist. He disregards race, gender, species, everything when doing business with another person, whether it be trying to strike a deal, or fighting. If someone decides that they will try and fight the Dragon Knight, he will not hold back his own power anymore than he would hold back on any deal with anyone.
As for the biggest trait of Samael’s, it is his cunning nature. As explained above, his cunning intellect is shrouded by a casual persona that he lets people see. Just when somebody thinks they have figured the Dragon Knight out, they soon realize that they have just found a new layer of him, even if they have not figured out all of the past layers that he has shown. In other words: He only lets people know what he wants them to know about him. Seemingly, he is always one step above all the others, and has the ability to be seemingly omniscient, or even omnipresent, when in reality, he has ways of learning about his enemies, and allies from afar, making him an extremely dangerous and complex character. There have been few that have even found out a large portion of Samael’s master plan before hand, and yet they still have no means of learning how to counter his actions without knowing the other half of his goals.
