Nox Aeterna: Latin for Forever Night.
This world is not just governed by one main plot, but by the stories of each, individual species. Each race has their own tale to tell, and each are intertwined together to meet an ultimate destiny. While each species has their storyline, they all began with the same beginning:
It started when the Nine Divines created the first two tribes of creatures: The Akahad, and the Nocturni. These Primordial beings were chaotic in every sense of the term, and held a power that frightened even the Divines, and these monstrosities used that power to war with one another as often as the human eye blinks. It was these Primordials that killed off all of the dinosaurs, and created many of the landscapes, which were the byproduct of their chaotic natures. When the Divines tried to destroy their creations, they realized that they were too powerful to die, and could ultimately only be sealed away.
In order to do this, the Divines created Mankind, and endowed these clever and calculating creatures with unimaginable power. Thus, the first witches were created. While their battles against the Primordials proved overwhelming, these powerful, yet fragile creatures managed to imprison the Primordials far beneath the Earth, but not before the Primordials left behind their sickening memory. Before the last of the Akahad and Nocturni were banished away, few managed to impregnate humans with their spawn, and from the Akahad came the first werewolves and from the Nocturni, the first vampires. While weaker than their ancestors, these immortal creatures proved just as dangerous and powerful, and overtime, the Divines places certain spells upon them, to restrict their might against humanity.
As the ages progressed, so came other magical beings. Some created by the Divines, and others created by witches, through sources unknown even to the Divines. Overtime, witches became weaker in power, in order to restore balance to the universe, while other creatures grew more powerful over the years. And though they were meek, even the humans that were never endowed with powers managed to become the masters of technology and create powerful weapons of mass destruction.
But the Divines know that the Primordials were never truly gone. Even now, they know that while they slumber, they could still get the power to escape from their sub-lava prison and reclaim the world once again, and should that day come, the Divines will be prepared...
This is the beginning that started the stories of each species in present time. Like the beginning, all stories shall also share the same ending. Whether it comes now, or later could very well depend on you.
